Providing patient care in a
COVID-safe environment

Having not been able to carry out eye screening during the pandemic, I was a little anxious about returning to work in my patient-facing role, especially with young children at home. But that soon changed.  The support from our Managers was exceptional. We knew every step we needed to take to make our working environment as Covid-safe as possible. Weekly wellbeing meetings helped us come to terms with the new way of running our clinics. Looking back now I wonder what all the worry was about.

I realise now that I am actually safer in clinic than before. It’s hard not being able to show anxious patients our smiling faces to provide reassurance, but I have adapted and approach things differently. I can still carry out all my responsibilities, I am safe, I feel safe and get on with the job that I love.
